My London studio is north-lit and portrait commissions can be up to the size of life.
Portrait paintings are a thoughtful collaboration between artist and sitter, and to successfully commission a portrait is to find the right artist for your taste and personality.
Process
Painting from life is the best way to create a portrait which is naturalistic, well lit and painted with a palette which is true to life. Sittings normally take between two and three hours and a finished portrait will take around 5 – 8 sittings.
The process of painting will accommodate your schedule so don’t worry if you are unable to sit for the duration or have to skip an appointment; I take reference photographs at the studio during the first session to be used to complete the painting if necessary. This should be a fun and relaxing experience that is tailored to suit your needs.
Style
The style of painting is classical and is founded on my academic training in Florence, Italy where I studied the traditional methods of oil painting reminiscent of the masters of the past (such as Titian, Rembrandt and Velásquez).
